Dawn M. Berry, President/CEO

Dawn M Berry, Founder and Principle of PHD, is a 25-year veteran in the business of hospitality.

Berry launched her career climbing the ranks within Hilton Worldwide at some of the most recognized full-service conference hotels and resorts and capping off her tenure as Vice President, Hilton Garden Inn (2000 – 2006), contributing to its growth of over 300 hotels during that time across the U.S., Mexico and Canada.  She is no stranger to leadership and is credited for her innate ability to relate to others, her agility under varying conditions and as a maximizer, with demonstrative problem-solving skills; one who is not stifled by conventional wisdom to overcome obstacles and achieve a level of excellence.

A role model for women in business, Berry holds herself accountable in being the demonstration of leadership, championing the performance of her team, making a difference in the lives of those around her and in the world; paving the way for others to follow. Actively involved in varying organizations within the hospitality, aviation and philanthropy industries, she holds high regard for her personal and professional relationships, knowing firsthand what it takes to make a team work, a company work, a society work and a civilization work.


Chan Jin, Executive Vice President - Operations


Chan Jin, Executive Vice President of Operations for PHD Hospitality, with over 20 years in the industry, brings exceptional leadership and visionary planning to the oversight and direction of our entire portfolio of hotels.  Chan has senior level experience with many distinguished brands including Ian Schrager Hotels, Hilton, Starwood and Joie de Vivre Hotels, working with renowned designers and culinary teams to infuse high-profile dining and experiential venues into hotel spaces, Chan has led a variety of projects and managed hotels in key gateway cities such as London, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles as well as exclusive leisure destinations of Santa Barbara, La Jolla and Beverly Hills.

As a strategic thinker, Chan has the ability to sift through clutter and circumstance to determine the best solution in order to overcome obstacles.  His determination to uphold integrity, professionalism and success is clearly demonstrated through his laser-focused drive to establish goals, execute action and ultimately deliver profitable results.  His commanding presence and take charge approach contributes to his ability to align and create strong teams as well as forge robust and lasting relationships with brand management, owners and business partnerships, new and old.
